Family Foundation Gives Golden Gate Seminary $850,000 for Church Planting Scholarships

MILL VALLEY, Calif. -- Dr. Jeff Iorg recently announced that a family foundation has donated $850,000 for church planting scholarships. “They believe in the Great Commission,” Iorg said, “and they want to see gospel-preaching churches planted throughout the world. So they made a very generous gift to ensure that church planters are trained at Golden Gate Seminary.”

“The donors, who wish to remain anonymous, told me they want to see church planters trained at Golden Gate Seminary without worrying about the cost of tuition. We are grateful for their kingdom minded generosity.” This scholarship fund represents the third largest single gift in the Seminary’s history.

“Beginning in the 2015 spring term,” Iorg said, “we will be awarding church planting scholarship to students who are currently working in a church plant, sense a call to planting a church, or want to serve on a church planting team.”

Iorg also noted that this gift seems to be evidence of God’s blessing the seminary’s decision to sell its Mill Valley Campus and create new campuses in both Ontario, California and the Bay Area. He added, “God is blessing us and confirming we are following his guidance.”
