Northern California Campus

To live in the San Francisco Bay Area is an education in itself. The Seminary's beautiful campus on Strawberry Point in Mill Valley is situated only eight miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge and 20 minutes from downtown San Francisco, providing an exceptional multicultural, multi-socio-economic learning environment.

Once considered a site for the United Nations complex now based in New York, the Northern California Campus (NCC) sits on 126 acres, surrounded by water with a breathtaking panoramic view of the bay, the city of San Francisco, and the surrounding areas. Present development at NCC includes four major buildings: the Academic Building which includes classrooms, LifeWay bookstore, computer laboratory, student lounge area, Golden Gate Academy preschool and chapel; the Harold K. Graves Administration Building with offices of the president, vice presidents, faculty offices, student services, registrar's office, business office, and other departmental offices; the library; and the cafeteria/commons. Additional smaller structures include: Mallory Hall women's residence; Truett Hall men's residence; family apartment units providing 12 studio apartments, 43 one-bedroom apartments, 50 two-bedroom apartments, and 8 three-bedroom apartments; the president's house; 12 units of faculty-staff housing; and a maintenance shop.

The Golden Gate Northern California Campus offers resident housing for full-time students who meet all eligibility requirements. Family housing is available for qualified married students, including dependent children under the age of 19 (extended family members may not occupy resident units). Many of our Northern California students are campus residents, as GGBTS housing is significantly lower than market rental rates in the Bay Area. Campus housing is managed through the Student Services Office and is coordinated by the Director of Student Services. More housing information.

Located between the residence and the academic areas of the campus, the Cafeteria/Commons provides campus food service and conference/meeting areas for various Seminary organizations and events. All Seasons Catering serves delicious luncheon meals, as well as grill service, each Monday through Friday.

Student Lounges

Student Lounge
The Student Lounge is a popular campus gathering place for students. The Lounge is located on the first floor of Broadus Hall (Academic Building) across from  the LifeWay Campus Bookstore.  The lounge area offers a beautiful panoramic view of San Francsico and other Bay Area landmarks.  Students enjoy the modern decor of comfortable furnishings, snack/refreshment machines, cafe tables, and free wireless internet access. The lounge area also houses the campus boxes for student communications.

Recreational Facilities

The campus Greenfield provides a wonderful place for athletic play and recreational opportunities. At the field entrance is the GGBTS Redwood Grove and picnic grounds. Above the Greenfield and below the dormitory buildings is the Rec Court with basketball court and a newly renovated playground. Various recreational events are sponsored throughout the year by the Student Services Office and Campus Life Association.

Mail Service Copy Center

An institution-wide mail center is provided by the Seminary primarily for intra-campus communication. Distribution is made through campus boxes provided for all students. Stamps are also available in limited quantities. The mail center hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

LifeWay Christian Resources operates a full-service bookstore near the student campus boxes in the Academic Building. Discounts are offered on textbooks and other course-related books.

The Marian Eakins Archaeological Collection, named after its first curator, is located in the library building. The museum’s major focus is the ancient Near East, the context of the Bible, but it also frequently includes displays more contemporary in nature. The museum provides an educational ministry to the Seminary family and to the Bay Area community. Since 2005, the museum has been a consortium member for the renewed excavations at Tel Gezer, Israel, and as such, sponsors that dig both monetarily and through the participation of its curator as Senior Field Archaeologist.

Golden Gate Academy

Golden Gate Academy (GGA) is a nonprofit Christian preschool for children ages 2 years through 5 years. It provides quality early childhood education for the children of Golden Gate Seminary students at the Northern California Campus and children from the southern Marin community. GGA is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Parents may select a schedule of Tuesday-Thursdays, Monday-Wednesday-Fridays, or five days per week. Scholarships are available to Seminary families through an application process. GGA is licensed by the state of California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division (LIC#210102802) and complies with state and federal regulations for quality preschool care. The Academy is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

The theme of GGA is Love, Laughter, and Learning. Love is evident as Christian early childhood educators provide a warm loving environment for learning. Laughter fills the halls as children explore the wonders of God’s great world. Learning is developmentally appropriate with “hands-on” experiences in discovering math, language arts, Bible, computer, science, and social studies. Daily songs, stories, and finger plays add to the fun. Center choices include drama, puppets, blocks, writing, home living, manipulatives, puzzles, etc. Enrichment sessions of art, music, Spanish, and physical education stimulate the young minds.

The Academy functions as a laboratory setting for many students at Golden Gate Seminary and is a model for church preschools and early childhood instruction. The educational environment is constantly being updated to provide the latest equipment and curriculum.
